Cash

My name is Cash Walters. I'm twelve years old. I just got home from football practice. I play for a team called the Panthers. But I'm quitting next week. I am tired of football. I started playing guitar a few months ago and I want to do that instead.

The problem is, my kid sister is going out for cheerleader and I don't want to tell her I'm quitting. And there's another small issue. My parents don't know yet. I think they've already paid money for me to be on the team. But I know they have plenty of money so that won't bother them I don't think.

My best friend Hank plays guitar too. He's been teaching me chords and stuff. I hope to write my first song soon. I love music. I do like football though. I wonder if there is a way to do both. I wish I didn't have to make these decisions. I want to be an adult but a kid at the same time.

Janey

My name is Janey Walters. I am 10 years old. This week I am trying out to be a cheerleader. I am trying out with my neighbor and BFF, Celia. The squad we are trying out for is called the Panthers. They cheer for a city football team. Also called the Panthers.

I have a brother, Cash. He plays football for the Panthers. He is twelve. This is his last year to play for the Panthers. I'm hoping to make the cheerleading squad so I can cheer for Cash and hang out with Celia. We have a plan.

The Panther's colors are red and white. So Celia and I are going to go into the tryouts decked out in red shirts and white shorts with matching hair bows and shoes. We got the coolest shoes. They are white with red polka-dots. My cheerleading jumps aren't very good but I figure I can distract them with my cool shoes.
